Dr. Shimizu has had an impeccable career in medicine and service to his patients starting with practice in neurology, neurological­ surgery and psychiatry at USC Los Angeles County Medical Center, 1967-1968. He had a distinguished career in the United States Public Health Service and the United States Coast Guard where he practiced Internal Medicine for three years in Alaska.

He returned to Los Angeles and completed his residency in Neurology at UCLA School of Medicine and became Chief Resident in 1974. Dr. Shimizu  has been Assistant Clinical Professor of Neurology at UCLA School of Medicine since 1975 and a Clinical professor at USC since 2000.

Dr.Shimizu is a trained provider of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Therapy and treats patients with depression using NeuroStar TMS Therapy.   which is safe and effective non-drug treatment for depression.
